| Our paths crossed some 40 years after our time as cadets, and Toby was still as affable as he had been then. We worked together on a study of professional military education. As the group leader, Toby handled a diverse collection of representatives of the Services, as well as representatives from the Joint Education Community. His skill at dealing with diverse points of view went a long way to producing a study that was amenable to all the participants. It was a thrill to see Toby handle this so well, and his performance reflected an outlook of getting the job done, but doing so harmoniously. This was a trait that has been identified by other Classmates who shared time with Toby in Beast Barracks and/or Plebe Year. Another great member of Strength And Drive gone too soon! |
