Frank and I were familiar with each other as cadets. Our contacts were infrequent but always pleasant. I had a most favorable opinion of him. But what I remember most about Frank arises from an encounter in Herbert Hall just a few years ago. Prior to a cold Army home football game, we gathered in the alumni hall for warmth, spirit and a breakfast. We unexpectedly met Susan and Frank and immediately claimed a table for the Hawkins, the Arnalls and the Franks. The hour or so that we were together was lively and infused with camaraderie. It was as if all the intervening years had not leaked diminished the connection among us. Frank and I had occasion to communicate about other issues subsequent to that gathering, and I felt the warmth and enthusiasm that was so characteristic of Frank. He had that quality of being helpful and supportive. My sense of loss is intensified by those moments. As others have indicated, about Frank it can truly be said "Well done!"
