Ray and I were competitors long before our days at USMA. We were South Florida swimmers, competing over the years in summer meets and in high school, at different schools. Ray was a fierce competitor, a great friend and we had many years of friendly rivalry. He and I closed out our high school career in the state championship 100 yard freestyle, finishing 1-2 and the next time we saw each other was in the pool with the great '65 class of great swimmers. Ray was a great teammate and a joy to be around. The next time I put cinnamon on my scrambled eggs, I will remember the time he introduced me to this breakfast treat. Great memories of a terrific friend. 🙏 |
