Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Alan Wuertenberger on April 14, 2017:

Chuck,

As long and fulfilling life as I have lived, it would have been so much more so to have had my big brother along with me. And so, another year, another birthday and I remember you vividly and precisely and even still feel guilty about stealing coins from your coin collection to go to the candy store with.

I even remember you carefully sorting through your paper money collections to find those rare coins.... but the candy was good, if that makes you feel any better. And why you didn't administer the beating to me that I richly deserved, I will never know. Unless it is because you felt guilty about clunking me on the head with the 3 lbs. Hop-a-long Cassidy cap gun that opened up a copiously bleeding gash on my head during one of our endless "cowboys and Indiians" games....

As you can tell, even though I have morphed into a 72 y/o man somehow, I am still your proud little brother and I miss on this and every day.

I love you Chuck... -Alan
