Be Thou At Peace

Posted by alan & rose rosenkranz on March 21, 2007:

We knew Gary just the last 11 months of his short life....my wife Rose and I were on our Honeymoon (June of 1965) in Miami Beach & Nassau and met another couple on their Honeymoon....Gary and Norma...we became fast friends...New York kids....we got to see Gary and Norma after his successful Jump at Ranger School, when his chutes did not open....he was big and powerful....everything an All-American type Football player would look and act like...but he was gung ho about getting to Nam....I remember that he was sent to Germany...disappointed, he volunteered and worked his way to get to Hawaii and onto Nam....we were shocked to learn of his death in May 19, 1966....just 15 days after my daughter Michelle was born....Rose and I attended Gary's Funeral at West Point....Gary Kadetz was the first member of the Class of 1965 to return to the Point...the Funeral was a very sad day for Rose and me...today my Daughter and Grand-daughter visited the Wall in Washington...they paid our respects to Gary...we have not forgotten you Gary...Alan & Rose Rosenkranz
