Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Ed knauf on February 10, 2011:

I did not know Mike at the Academy but we were both stationed at the 466L Electromagnetic Intelligence System as Site Activation Officers for our first assignment in the AF. Mike got deployed to the worse site in Turkey and I was lucky enough to get sites in Europe and the Far East. We regularly connected by "radnotes" during this period because we had many of the same problems to get sites working. Mike had an unusual experience because we had an intelligence collection problem in the Black Sea that resulted in the US and Soviets racing to recover a package. Mike was commandeered to lead the US ship actions. Through a miracle Mike was able to be home for my wedding at the Point. All our other classmates were in the SEA. Mike's gift of cookware lasted over 30 years. I was glad he could hold the sword for Sue and I. ED
