Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Natalie Henley on May 19, 2008:

Dad,
We recently laid you to rest at the place you longed to be, the United States Military Academy. You would have been so honored, Dad. The color guard was great. I now see why that is where you wanted to be. We all went, got to tour the campus and walk through the museum. Exactly what you wanted, your family to see West Point. How beautiful it is there on the Hudson River. It was chilly, but so beautiful!
I think about you frequently. I think about the time we spent when I was a child. Oh, the road trips. I don't think I mourned for you right away, I think I brushed off my feelings in slight denial. Little things remind me of you, like when I hear that the Braves won a game.
I love you Daddy. I hope that I make you proud in whatever I do in life. And you were right; I did pass that last section of the exam, like you said. Now I am Natalie Stevison Henley, CPA!!!
Thank you for everything you have taught me over the years. I am sorry if I was not always who or what you wanted of me. I will live my life to the fullest, knowing you are watching me.
I love you and will not forget you!
Love,
Nat "the Bat" Stevison
