Be Thou At Peace

Hal: Be thou at peace. Hal shared a room with Roger Hoxmeir and I in G-2 as plebes. With a wrestler and track star in the same room, I was the odd man out. But it was an honor to be Hal's roommate. My last real contact with Hal was at Ranger school where my Ranger buddy Doug Davis had to ensure that we beat Hal and his buddy in every run. We did, but it was a hell on this smoker. After the runs Hal and Doug would laugh about the runs, while I groaned. The world will miss Hal's humor and honesty in everything he did. |
