Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Michael J. O'Grady on February 22, 2015:

Jack Terry was the only name by which I ever knew our esteemed classmate.

Our acquaintance was minimal as cadets, being based only upon a teammate relationship in 4 years of football, and a widely chronicled boxing match in which he was the very overwhelming victor. I don't recall a class or a social event or another time at which we met, and we never again crossed paths in the years after graduation.

Nonetheless, I counted Jack Terry as a dear friend, and I can only hope that he reciprocated----- it certainly seemed that he did, in our limited context.

Jack Terry was a classic Competitor,--with a Capital C. I am not at all surprised to read of his HS accomplishments before our acquaintance, and of his heroic and accomplished life after being disabled--make that wounded--in combat.

My wife Barbara and I extend to his widow, and to all the rest of the family, our deepest regrets at his passing.

Celebrate his life.

Jack Terry was a good guy in every respect, and it was evident from the first few minutes of the first meeting with him.
