John was my first manager when I started my career in tech in 1979. His high standards, bias for action, and focus on the team made a huge impression on me and helped me to form my own leadership style. I was honored to visit his house in Oak Hills for dinner and had the opportunity to meet his family. Even though this was long ago, I remember his hospitality and the interest he took in me as a young man. I thought of John often over the years and tried to track him down a few times. His relatively common name made this challenging, but I really wish I had tried harder. While I know he will be sorely missed by his family, he will also be missed by those of us who were privileged to have worked with him. |
