Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Steve Townes, USMA 1975 on November 1, 2020:

I have known Jon King '65 as a friend since meeting him in 1978 at the Founders Day banquet in Houston. Jon was the host, emcee, and energetic life of the party. I was visiting as the junior ADC for the D-Supt. We remained friends ever since. My wife's family is from Houston, so during various visits over the years, we always made time to see Jon. He was a highly accomplished attorney, as well as a unique entrepreneur. His role in the WP Society of Greater Houston spanned the past 4 decades, a tireless advocate for the Academy, for veterans, and for helping grads seeking business careers in the Houston area. He was instrumental in creating and hosting Houston's monthly West Point Luncheons at fine restaurants there. I was honored to be the speaker at one of those a few years ago, and Jon was the happy "live wire" as always. He will be missed by comrades, friends, and family. He has my sharpest salute for a Life Well Lived. BE THOU AT PEACE, Jon. Steve '75.
