Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Skip O'Donnell on April 30, 2020:

I did not know Jose that well while we were at
West Point. Thereafter, I remember his being our Class Treasurer and organizing the annual Army-Navy game festivities for many years. Around 2008 or 2009, our Class President Clair Gill asked if I would be interested in taking over the Class Treasurer job from Jose. I said I would if Jose and I could meet first. I was in Virginia Beach at the time visiting my folks and called Jose about our meeting somehow. Well, he drove down from NJ the next day and we had a great meeting. During our meeting I asked Joe why he wanted to turn over the treasurer duties. He said he has done it for a long time, had older relatives to take care of as well as some family involvement in the oil business which required a lot of travel. After our Class Treasurer turnover, Jose was still very much involved with our class for many years. He initiated getting a 1965 Class flag with me and Terry Ryan for class activities around the nation-especially classmate funerals. Through the years I have seen where Jose was pictured at many of our classmate funerals even the ones out here in Phoenix and Seattle which I attended. To me I will always remember his dedication to our fellow classmates and love for his family. Rest in Peace.
