Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Step Tyner on April 12, 2006:

Though Spot and I were colleagues for five years, man and boy, I cannot say that I knew him at all well. The aristocratic name, of course, piqued curiosity, but what impressed about Spot was his quintessential gentility. In soft, Tidewater tones, he manifested respect for everyone around him. If General Schofield was thinking of a particular personality when he composed his definition of discipline, Spot was that leader. Our country is diminished by having lost him so soon.
