| Bill and I were fellow survivors of a D-1 Plebe year and during that dismal year, he was ever a beacon of help and humor, uniquely able to lift one's spirits and always willing - no, eager - to do so. Though both infantrymen, we never served together but many years later, I dropped in to his quarters on Colonels' Row at Ft. Benning unannounced and he welcomed me as if I were our Lord come again. See you on the other side, Bill! I shall miss you. |
