Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bob Frank, L-1 & B-1 on April 6, 2016:

There is nothing I can say that has not already been said. Even though we were in adjacent companies as Plebes and Yearlings, I had little contact with Bob. I missed out on a significant portion of cadet life by not dropping to the sections frequented by Bob, Mark Sheridan and others who shared his trials with the Academic Departments. However, I saw Bob from afar, that is, from the stands at the lacrosse field. What a determined and effective LAX man, who contributed greatly to the success of that the Army teams.

What I missed as a cadet, I found as an itinerant golfer, joining twice yearly with that merry band of Classmates at the beginning of this century. It was through that experience that I learned how much I had missed by not having more contact with Bob while at West Point. His humor was always uplifting, and it was truly a unique experience to sit around the poker table with him. We shall all miss that, and so much more.

To Betty and the rest of the family, I send my deepest sympathy for I know that Bob's departure was extremely premature. He should have been with us much longer, but his spirit lives on. And we shall have the opportunity to smile again sometime in the future as we recall this incident or that, especially the mischief of Bob's making.

I am sure Bob's Classmates are universal in their praise: "Well done!"
