Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Grosvenor W. Fish, JR on May 7, 2007:

Tim was my roommate our last two years at West Point. It was the wisdom of Major Breakiron, our K-1 TAC, who put us together. Otherwise I would never have gotten to know Tim so well. Many things seem to come running back to my mind. As Tim's roommate I shared a lot time with this incredible human. One of my tasks, other than being his academic coach in every subject except English, was to see that Tim made it to Chapel on time. As he went to a different service than I, I sometimes failed. Tim was the come back king in academics and he really never broke a sweat until WGR's. He never really got intersted in studing until Taps and then the pressure was on. Also, during lacross season, I remember defending my clothes closet wearing two long sleeve sweat shirts (not much protection and no helmet) holding a lacross stick and Tim shooting a tennis ball until he got his shot just right or I was bruised enough to quit. Another side of Timmy showed itself very year a week before Easter as he would prepare to go to confession. After the Easter service he would have a smile that never quit. That is how I remember Tim - the man with the 1000-mile smile and flaming red hair.
