William Gordon Gang

West Point, 1966

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by DOUGLAS S. THORNBLOM on November 26, 2018:

I've known Bill Gang since we were on the West Point fencing team together in 1962. He was the best man at my wedding two days after we graduated, in June of 1966. He is one of the best friends I've ever had.
We've kept in touch all these years, meeting at reunions and visiting each other's homes. He and his wife Kathy went with Debbie and me to Spain a few years ago and we had a wonderful time together.
I used to tell people that everything Bill touched turned to gold. He was a star man at West Point, and married a beautiful, intelligent woman who was an asset to his many careers. We taught together at West Point in the early '70's, and while teaching he earned his Masters Degree in Engineering in the evenings and on weekends.
He went on to a long and successful career at GE, ENRON (and was smart enough to leave when he discovered that the company was being unethical). He retired as VP of Applied Engineering Systems and formed his own highly successful consulting company. He was also appointed as a Civilian Aid to the Secretary of the Army, and served for many years.
Bill was one of the best men I've ever known, and a standout in the West Point Class of '66.
Goodbye, old friend. "Well Done! Be Thou at Peace."
