Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Tad Ono on March 30, 2021:

Hilton was a plebe in B-1 when I was a yearling. I seem to remember him getting his share of the hazing from the upperclassmen. I can't recall whether that was due to his taking too big of bites or some spastic moves. I wound up as his sponsor in his first unit assignment in Germany, then in the same grad school after Vietnam. He was very generous in coaching those of us who spent more time on the golf course than the classrooms. He succeeded me in the 2nd Engineer Bn in Korea but became a district commander ahead of me. Throughout his career, he worked twice as hard as the next guy. The Army should have promoted him, he was as worthy as anyone I knew-smart, full of good ideas, hard working, dedicated, loyal and competent. Army would have had an outstanding engineering general. Well done, Hilton, be at peace.
