Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Tad Ono on March 30, 2021:

I didn't know Tom in school but early in our careers as engineers in Germany, we both commanded Atomic Demolition Munitions platoons, so we knew about each other. We both went to Univ of Illinois for our advanced degrees in civil engineering, except Tom took both CE and ME courses in preparation for a PhD. Between studies, we managed to get in plenty of rounds at the Blue and Orange courses of U of I. Later, we were both district commanders in the Corps of Engineers. Tom then became the Army guru on manpower and served in PA& E. He followed me to Hawaii after retirement where we worked for different consulting companies. He would still get calls from the Pentagon asking for his advice on certain complicated manpower issues. We managed to get in some rounds of golf at Kaneohe Klipper course until he had his knees replaced. Tom was smart, quick, competent, physically tough and a good friend. Well done, Tom, may you rest in peace.
