Richard Dean Woodward

West Point, 1966

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Sally B. Snow on April 15, 2022:

I knew Richard, he was known a Woody Woodward to me, in 1966 just after he graduated from West Point. He was my best friend's, Sandy Coffee, boyfriend. Sandy said that Woody and his fellow classmate, and I think his name is Gene Albright from Birmingham Alabama, were on their way to Vietnam and coming through our area, Torrance CA., that was were Richards folks lived. They both had new 1966 Corvettes! So all four of us, each couple in their own Corvette, drove to Hollywood and cruised Hollywood Blvd. I don't recall much else about the evening other than I was thrilled to get a rid in a Corvette (I have owned 5 in my life, so far) and that my date Gene was a very nice guy. I didn't keep in touch with Richard but Sandy let me know he married a gal from New York and she went on to become a doctor. Gene sent me a few letters from Vietnam but that kind of died off, I had other boyfriends. Those were the days and fond memories of a couple of gorgeous cadets taking us for rides and doing the Hollywood cruise.
