I knew Dan - knew him well - only briefly. But this came at a crucial time for us all: Beast Barracks! Dan, Cal Stebbins (ex-'66) and I were roommates in 5th New Cadet Company in the old 7th Division. Much of our cadre came from I - 1, so you know that 8 weeks was no cup of tea. Dan was friendly but quiet. He would readily help a roommate in need, but often kept to himself. He was "spiffy," generally managing to avoid the wrath of our superiors. Dan was a good New Cadet; he went on to be a good cadet and (I understand) a very successful officer. R.I.P., Dan. |
