Be Thou At Peace

Posted by DOUG THORNBLOM on June 3, 2014:

I got to know Fred very well back in the summer of '64. He and I were among the 4 West Point cadets selected to go on an exchange trip to the Mexican Military Academy and we had a blast. We got to spend time in Mexico City, the nearby pyramid ruins, and Acapulco. When we returned to the U.S. with the Mexican cadets, we got VIP tours of the Pentagon, West Point, the World's Fair in NYC, and NASA. Throughout the exchange Fred was the level headed guy who kept us, more or less, out of trouble. He was one of the nicest guys I've ever met, always jovial, fun to be with, reliable, and a great guy to have as your wing man.

Fred was also a great soldier, and a true fighting hero to the end.

Be thou at peace, Fred.
