Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Dick Murray on June 12, 2013:

I had the great privilege of getting to know the essence of Mike Silliman by playing along side of him on the Army basketball team in the mid 1960's. As I've written before Mike was a "Mountain of a Man" in everything he undertook. His talent as a player was only surpassed by his intellect and competitiveness. If the Academy is ever looking for a player who personified the Bob Knight era of Army basketball they need look no further then "Big Mike". He did it all and he did it with humility while maintaining a great sense of humor; and only the Good Lord knows how important having a sense of humor was playing on those teams. As a player, a teammate and a classmate I can only say that Mike enriched my life more than I could possibly communicate, but know for sure he was one great person. God Bless you Big Guy.
