Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Roger Thompson on February 4, 2013:

John came to me and others- on assignment. He was a true academic "math saviour" for plebes in M1 needing help in plebe math 1962 and 1963. He was likely told to do it and certainly did his best to help us try to understand "foggy concepts". We were slow to pick up on it and it was frustrating for such a bright guy to deal with us and our inability to grasp certain concepts in calculus. We not only learned enough to pass the course, we learned some choice Chinese curse words.! I always remember John and his generosity and patience.
He was placed in a challenging environment among American cadets mixed with those of other nations. He survived and excelled. It was sad for me to learn of his tragic death so soon and so young and know thatr I could not see him to thank him again for helping me through a tough part of that first year. God Bless, John!
