Arthur George Bonifas

West Point, 1966

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Larry G. Shaddix (Maj, Retired) on July 16, 2008:

I rode up to the JSA with Art that fateful morning on 18 August 1976. I had known Art only a couple of months since my being assigned as the USASG-JSA Logistics Officer in June 1976. I was also a fellow Red Leg. I observed and photographed the operation from Observation Point #5 and witnessed the felling of Art by the KPA thugs.

In the short time with Art he had become my friend. After 32-years, that fateful memory is like yesterday. Art, we all still miss you. You were destined for greatness.

Cheers.
