Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Marilyn McKibbin on December 3, 1998:

"Skip" was not just my only brother, he was my
closest friend. Our father was an academy
graduate, and Skip decided to follow in his foot-
steps, although he chose West Point instead of
Annapolis, and Armor instead of Aviation. Skip
volunteered for Vietnam shortly after graduation
because he wanted to get it out of the way before
he had a wife and children to consider. He was
killed when a rocket impacted against his tank
during the Tet Offensive of 1968. I will mourn
the loss of this tall, blond, blue-eyed Scotch-
Irishman, whose wonderful sense of humor and
winning smile always brightened our days, for the
rest of my life. He gave his life for his men,
which was so like him because of his intense dedication to duty, honor and country. We are
so proud of Skip and all of the men and women who
gave their lives for their country in Vietnam.
To Skip I say, "Rest in Peace, Little Brother."
