Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Peyton Ligon on June 6, 2013:

Rich, myself, and several other Classmates, traveled by commercial air to Vietnam together, and at least five of us were on orders to the 173rd Abn Bde. Only fate would separate us when we arrived, and Rich went to 2/503rd and I went to 4/503rd. I was shocked when I learned of Rich's fate on June 22, 1967, and could only say a silent prayer for his family and loved ones. I am convinced that Rich died serving his country proudly, and that he led his Infantry Platoon valiantly, in the finest traditions of the 173rd Airborne Brigade. May he rest in peace.
