Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Christopher Riley on June 15, 2012:

I too just learned of Doctor Piskun's passing, and I am very upset. He was an exceptionally fine neurosurgeon and a truly caring and sensitive individual, as I learned when he operated on me at Beaumont in 1983. My father died, entirely unexpectedly, the day after my surgery, and my wife and I clearly remember how sincere then-LTC Piskun's condolences and concerns were. I also remember that the night after my operation and what must have been a full day of work for him, Dr. Piskun went into surgery again for something like nine straight hours on behalf of an El Paso police officer who had been shot in the head. Dr. Piskun saved his life.... Our deepest condolences to his family, and my apologies for not seeing this sad news before now.
