Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Marcus Weldon on May 30, 2003:

I first met Captain Bohuslar in Augsburg, Germany in the mid 70's. I was in high school and he was my father's company commander. Learning that I wanted to go to West Point, he offered to answer my questions and encourage me in my endeavor. My meeting with him went well and he loaned me two of his four yearbooks so that I could get a better picture of what West Point was all about. Sadly, many pictures were annotated with the dates of their death in Vietnam.
Lieutenant Colonel Bohuslar and my father remained friends throughout all these years. I stayed in touch as well, mostly out of respect for my father, but equally as well for a man with an endearing sense of service to his nation. There are few men that my father has respected and admired as much as LTC Bohuslar and it was my privilege to meet and know him. I did go on to West Point, graduate ('82), and attain the same rank of LTC, but I always looked to LTC Bohuslar as the model of what I wanted to be as an Army officer!
