| Everything I am & ever hope to be I owe to my first detail Squad leader. John was my first sustained example of what a West Point cadet should be & he did not disappoint. He lead by example & was always firm yet fair. If you gave your best, even when you fell short of the mark, he was there to encourage & show you how to do better. He also had a knack for making our squad cohesive & confident that we could achieve whatever goal we faced. His early leadership lessons became a benchmark for me as a squad leader, battalion commander, & class commander, as well as higher leadership positions in the Army & private sector. Thanks John. RIP. |
