Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Berenice (Berry) Johnson on March 17, 2017:

I am Warren's widow and I appreciate the kind words by his friends. I was a widow with two grown children when Warren and I met at Fort Leavenworth. We were married in 1986 and had a wonderful, but sadly short time together. We loved to sail our sail boat, Berry-Nice and we camped and hiked in Yosemite many times. I had a fear of heights when we married, but conquered it in order to climb with Warren to see the Emerald Pool. We travelled to my homeland, England, where we hiked and sailed in the Lake District and visited my family and relatives in Surrey and Lancashire. The day that Warren died of a massive heart attack, we had spent on the boat at Long Beach doing what he loved, some sailing and cleaning of the boat. I miss him every day and remember his sense of humor and his laugh, his bright smile and brilliant blue eyes. As he married a Brit, it seems appropriate to read "The Charge of the Light Brigade" as a part of his eulogy.
