Be Thou At Peace

Posted by John Strapac on March 15, 2013:

I considered myself one of Bob's best buddies during our cadet days. I especially always remember Bob at least once annually on March 2 as this date is the birthday of Ellen my wife.

Bob was a very positive happy person who made me love to be around him especially when we walked the area together. We usually would choose who would carry the radio so we could listen to the radio during football games. We figured out a routine of stop and go to arrange meeting each other at crucial game moments. I think we only got caught once and I don't remember who got slugged for carrying the radio but it didn't matter because we had an equal chance of getting caught.

I have visited Bob's grave site several times and the first time we viewed his brother's grave site next to Bob's I almost couldn't stand the shock to know what his family endured having given 2 sons to the VN war. I too served with my brother at almost the same time during my VN service and can only imagine how awful my family would have felt if either me or my brother were lost but not 2 bothers.

Bob, you will be forever remembered til the day I die so God continue to bless and care for Bob's family.
