Be Thou At Peace

Posted by DOUGLAS THORNBLOM on September 3, 2012:

Norm Gunderson was my roommate all of Firstie year, along with John Deponai. We stayed together because we all got along so well, and Norm was the glue that kept us together. I don't know how much "study" time we lost while singing along with Norm and his guitar to all the popular songs of the day (he was lead guitar for our Rock band "Well Respected Men.") But he was one of the most personable and caring men I have ever known.

Our friendship endured over the decades, and we kept in touch as much as we could- occasionally the 3 of us gathering for a meal or repeat of singing the songs we loved, only with aged and off-key voices- until the sadness of his lingering death from cancer.

Norm showed us all that life was to be enjoyed, doing the things you love, with the people you care for. He was a true friend to the end, and all who knew him miss him terribly.
