Be Thou At Peace

Posted by R. John McKay on June 26, 2016:

I met Frank in Vietnam in May of 1968 when we both were selected to attend a 2 week course to make us advisors, to the Vietnamese forces. We became good friends. At the end of our first tour, we met up in Saigon and both of us had volunteered to extend our tour in Vietnam which came with a 30 day leave. After our leaves we met backup in Saigon prior to venturing off to our next assignment. This is when we made a pact that we would extend again and when we got our 30 day leave we would go to Italy and simply have a lot of fun. A short time later I read in the Stars & Stripes he was KIA. I never extended again. He was a great guy, dedicated to the Army and his country. Like my other good friends I lost in Vietnam, I miss him.
