Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Sean Berthelot on June 10, 2016:

People tell me that Hank Berthelot was a good kid growing up in the small town of Port Allen, LA. I did not know him then.

Classmates from grammar school, high school and college all talk of how fun and bright he was, but I still hadn't met him.

Military friends say he was a great soldier. Patriotic, smart, strong, determined and a great leader. I honestly saw that every day I knew him.

I was introduced to Hank in May of 1971, and he was just that, a gentle giant who taught me to find the good in everything and enjoy that good. To be thankful when times are tough, never to complain because someone, somewhere is worse off.

I found it takes a strong man to live by such a simple ideology.

My Dad, Hank Berthelot, was strong!
I love you and will miss every day... until we meet again.
