Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Doug Dienel on November 10, 2015:

My dad and Woody's dad were colleagues and friends early in their army careers. When my dad was stationed at WP in the late sixties, Woody would come to visit on the weekends. I have warm memories of him taking me to the cadet gym where we would swim laps and work out. I recall that he was quite an accomplished gymnast. In his senior year he bought a GTO and parked it at our house. What a cool car!! His fiancé, Pat would stay at our house when she would come to visit him at the Point. Woody was one of the most positive and up beat people I have ever known. He laid his life down for the country he loved and I will be eternally grateful for that and for his friendship during my formative years. Woody was a great guy who will forever hold a warm place in my memory.
