Chuck was one of the finest gentlemen I have ever known. A good Christian, he was highly principled, honest and somebody you could count on. He and I were roommates during Plebe year. Chuck was a quiet person but would hang on your every word, and was always very good company. After the Academy, we hadn't been in contact until the early '80s, until I move to northern San Diego county, near his home in Vista, and we renewed our friendship. He was always welcome in our home and visited even after I moved to Long Beach. Chuck never talked about it much, but I know he had gone through some tough times. His faith and persistence carried him through. With his passing, he is a friend who will be sorely missed. |
