| Joe got me through Beast. He was my third roommate after the first two washed out. He knew all the tricks from Norwich and made me look good which was no small task. He was quiet but steady and sure of himself. He was both a friend and a mentor. Joe and I were assigned to different companies after Beast and we grew apart, but I always felt this special bond that only Beast roommates can share. I cried silently when I heard he had left us. He was the first of three members from our Beast squad to pay the ultimate sacrifice in Viet Nam. God bless you Joe. |
