Be Thou At Peace

Posted by WILLIAM H WARD on August 17, 2022:

While the MUSE is upon me, I feel it necessary to add these recollections to Dave's published Memorial Article, or else it may never get posted.

Along with Bo Moore, Dave and I were roommates Firstie year and that's when our personal relationship formed. Over the years, we stayed in touch. After Dave's medical retirement due to disability, he established a highly successful business in McCall, variously McCall Tire and Wheel, or McCall Tire and Auto. Always the entrepreneur, Dave could always turn an obstacle into an opportunity. One example was his having to deal with petroleum waste, mandated by the EPA and the state equivalent.

When he was faced with this problem, he procured a tanker truck and was thus able to dispose of not only his used oil but that of others, and make money at it while in compliance with all EPA regs!

I recall his telling me about this during one of our regular phonecalls over the years, and we kept each other updated on our lives.

After his last major surgery (double leg amputation due to diabetes), he was upbeat and looking forward to his return home, where he unexpectedly passed in December 2018.

I flew out to Boise to attend his memorial service. The Church hosting the memorial service was located on El Dorado Street, which provided a most fitting and poetic theme for not only his Eulogy but for his West Point Memorial Article, published in time for our 50th Reunion in 2019.

Thanks for the memories, Dave! Rest in Peace.
