Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bill Ward, '69 on August 17, 2022:

During academy years, Max was a hard guy to get to know, but not to respect, which no doubt led to his being the final Commander of Company E-2 during "Firstie" year. Post graduate, however, it was interesting to observe how he mellowed over the years. During the spring of 2014, he made a series of visits in the south, and I was the fortunate recipient of one of these visits when I was in law school at Mercer Law School in Macon. He seemed to treasure every moment of that visit. Also during this time, he made a special trip from his home in Virginia to Cleveland, Ohio to visit our E-2 classmate and friend Arnie Stankus in the hospital. These actions certainly cemented his relationship with the unusually close network of E-2 alumni. His loss is sharpely felt.
