Be Thou At Peace

Posted by SSG Bill Powis Ret on August 10, 2009:

I knew Lt Deyoung when he was assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 68th Armor. He was assigned as company XO. He was an excellent officer with high standards that he exemplified to all that he came in contact with. He set an example to the company and strove to help the men achieve perfection in their assignments. He was always working with junior officers to help them improve their leadership skills. He was well liked and respected by the entire company. I left for Vietnam while Lt Deyoung was still in Baumholder Germany, I was shocked to hear that he had passed away, I had admired him as an officer and Leader.
