Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jim McDonough on October 16, 2007:

I profoundly mourn the loss of my friend, classmate, and roommate, Bob Jordan. Just as profoundly, I rejoice in his life. His rugged individualism might have caused some to see Bob as an atypical West Point cadet and unlikely Army officer. Not so. His deep family values and mid-western upbringing produced in him as in few others a love of country and his fellow man. Kind, considerate, and self-effacing he put others first and country above all. He met all the challenges that came at him straight up, without complaint and without casting fault elsewhere. He did his duty as he saw it, always with great compassion, understanding, intelligence, and forthrightness. He took it upon himself to care for others, to enhance their dignity and self-worth, and to praise their efforts. It is no wonder he was so loved. He was, therefore, in every sense the quintessential American and lived up to our class motto -- the best of the line. Well done, my friend.
