Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Joe Berenato on April 9, 2007:

Jerry was a kind and gentle man, who carried himself with great dignity and yet was always ready to flash a great smile. Plebe year, we were on the B-3 boxing team together, where he taught me many things, including keeping my left hand up. Jerry, John Yeisley and I roomed together for awhile. Every day was a race back to the room, for the unwritten rule was that whoever got to the single record player in the room first, got to play his choice of LP. Jerry's choice was always James Brown, John's was Righteous Brothers and mine was Beach Boys. We heard a lot of "I feel good!" in those days. Jerry, we miss you, both for the man you were, and the man you would have become--Rest in Peace.
