Randy and I were in Vietnam together. He was a fun guy to be around. He introduced me to a US Navy Officers Club on the North beach at Cam Rahn Bay, where we were stationed. I wish he and I had not tried to outrun the MP's after drinking far too much and took the "shortcut' he knew through a marked minefield. God loves and protects the drunks, the foolish and the innocent, but I'm not sure he and I were so innocent. But the trick worked and the MP's never knew whose jeep they were chasing. I never tried that shortcut again. Randy, you remain a delight in my memories. Thanx for the friendship! Karl Ivey |
