Be Thou At Peace

Lonnie and I were in the same company at West Point- C1. After graduation we went our separate ways, and unfortunately our paths as career Army officers did not cross in spite of the many postings I, and I am sure Lonnie and his family, experienced. That being said on incident stands out that highlights the caliber of the man. Several years ago while on a cruise I struck up a conversation with a retired chief warrant officer. As you might expect, we started to talk about where we had been assigned and if we knew anybody in common. It turns out this retired chief warrant officer served with Lonnie in Europe in the late 80's. This individual could not say enough about Lonnie- his character, integrity, humility and what a truly outstanding individual Lonnie was to all. These comments are particularly heartwarming- and even more so when they come from someone with whom you have served. They describe the essence of Lonnie Adams. Rest in Peace Lonnie. Larry Sadoff |
