Moe, K.Johnson, and I roomed together 2d Semester Plebe year as we suffered the rigors of dealing with upper-class men of Co. B-3, who [before the 2 Regiments became 4] were previously members of I-1 [Inquisition-1] :-). Kenny & I did our best; and, clearly Moe's ability to let some of the rubbish roll off his back gave us confidence that in the end all would be well ... ! We remained company-mates until he & Kenny moved over to G-3 ...; and, I was left with the likes of Kedrow, Pettitt, Lobdel, and Leister [among a majorly august group :-) in B-3. Unable to speak with Moe before he passed ... I left a Voice Mail for his wife, Cindy, and asked her to whisper to him two messages from me; 1. Thanks for 'carrying' Johnson & me along with your wonderfully easy-going manner, and 2. Auf Wiedersehen [Until we see each other again] ! That's about it for a super fellow from New Jersey who did very nicely in this world ... and will do equally so in the next ! Jim ... Moe nicknamed our room; The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly [you figure out which moniker belongs to whom :-)] ... |
