Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Vince Corica on November 11, 2014:

Bobby was a hero and a friend to me every single day I had the privilege of knowing him. We roomed together a few times and his larger-than-life love of living and laughing matched his larger-than-life physique. He was much smarter than he wanted people to believe, and he used that intellect to live the good things at West Point and ignore the meaningless ones. He always listened sincerely when you spoke with him and unless you were across from him on the football field or the wresting mat, he assumed he'd be your friend. And, as we all know, could he DANCE! One of the coolest ways I saw him use his uncanny dancing skills was this...after watching the crowd on the dance floor, Bobby would single out a good-looking girl who laughed a lot and who could really dance. He'd amble up to her and shyly ask "Since you're obviously a dance student or a dance teacher, would you please show me just a few steps?" The charmed young lady would take his gigantic paw and lead him out to the dance floor. After less than a minute of feigned clumsiness, Bobby would rock the house with his stunning and graceful dance moves. The girl would always laugh at his cunning come-on and he had himself a glorious dance partner and date for the evening! What a force of nature he was. He was one of the best of us, and to lose him to complications from this vicious disease, which also took my precious Father, breaks my heart. Be thou at peace, Bobby...you are remembered and treasured just as you deserve. Your pal, "Vinnie".
