Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Gary Cornelison (E3 70) on June 23, 2012:
Mike was a good friend who often found time to drop by my room, typically spending time with me playing cards rather than studying for finals. We shared a common belief that if we did not already know the material, it was unlikely we could learn it in time for exams. Consequently, we found ways to spend time in activities not involving study. Foolish, but somehow we survived. I will always remember Mike and his family's willingness to allow me to spend a summer leave with them in Pennsylvania, as my parents were stationed overseas and I needed a place to spend time. They welcomed me graciously and I remember that brief time with great fondness and appreciation. I hope they are well and that they know how many of Mike's fiends share their grief for the loss of their beloved son. I am thankful to have known Mike and sincerely appreciate our friendship. I will miss him, as will so many others.
