Be Thou At Peace

| I didn't know Penn during our time at West Point, but I knew him well as my Ranger Buddy in Ranger School. I have fond memories of our adventures there, especially during the final, extended patrol in Florida. After nearly nine days of Penn getting little to no sleep, he kept falling asleep while walking. He would suddenly veer off the trail, and I would gently grab him from behind, wake him up, and guide him back on the trail. We had many laughs over that. I only saw Penn a couple of times after Ranger School, but he was one of the finest, most gentle, generous, and caring people I've ever known. God Bless you, Penn! You will always have a special place in my heart. |
