While at "school," Jack (D-1, Corps Squad) and I (F/G-4, Intramural scrub) did not connect. ADA Officers' Basic, Fort Bliss, TX, August 1970, I connected with this "force of nature" embodied in John Landell McGill. Juarez... Years pass and in 1988, Jack calls me to see if I had any interest to interview for a position in Chicago for Bagcraft, Inc, where he was the COO. Chicago was cold and the wind biting but Jack and Diane were warm and inviting. I did not get the job but I treasure the two and a but days we spent together. Jack, I will miss your "Carpi Diem" grip on the here and now but your indomitable spirit will be with me until I reach your current location. Love you man. |
